Welcome to Operation Employment

VetNet Operation Employment is a scholarship program that funds a full suite of career training programs for our nation’s veterans who bravely served our country and who desperately need jobs after service.

The need is great, but our resources are limited. We have hundreds deserving veterans, just like Joe, who are waiting for training – but we lack the funds to provide that training.

Our goal is to raise $100,000 by the end of 2015, and we need your help!

The situation is dire. A veteran returning home from service faces incredible challenges when looking for employment.

Veterans must have both soft skills and industry skills training to find a civilian job when they return home. Combined with the military skills they already possess, they can become tremendous assets in the private sector.

We could serve hundreds more veterans, just like Joe, with your generous donations. It takes just $1,000 per veteran to train them with the skills they need to find work, and they’ll earn $3 – $4 more per hour when they do!

Our goal is to raising $100,000 by year’s end to provide that much needed training. You can help!

Statistics You Can’t Ignore

  • 70% of Service Members leave the military without a job and a third without permanent housing identified.
  • Orange County ranks third in the nation for the size of their veteran population with no active military installation in place like military bases and department of Veterans’ Affairs Centers – which means no home base for Veterans, this is why the work of non-profits like us is so important to help veterans get back to the civilian life!
  • Among those who do have jobs, 76% of post 9/11 veterans working full time earn below the state median of $67,000
  • Enlisted soldiers who volunteered out of high school may have more difficulty in finding employment
  • Employment can help a veteran reframe negative thoughts by demonstrating competence, providing meaning to life and social support.
  • Two-thirds of unemployed veterans are between the ages of 35 and 64, and many face training deficits and basics skills such as resume writing.
